Multi-Line Edit attributes
autoSelect
The autoSelect property indicates whether the text in the field should be automatically selected when the field gets focus.
backgroundColor (String)
The backgroundColor attribute is the name of the RGB color for the background of the part.
borderWidth (Integer)
The borderWidth attribute is the width of the border, specified in pixels, that surrounds the part on all four sides. A width of zero means that a border does not show.
On some platforms, the border width is limited to 1 pixel and any nonzero value is set to 1.
columns (Integer)
The columns attribute specifies the width of the part measured in average character spaces when either the left or right edge is not attached.
The width of the control determines the initial setting of the columns attribute unless another initialized value is connected to the attribute. You can modify the width of the control at run time by connecting a value to the columns attribute of the part.
converter (AbtConverter)
The converter attribute is an object that manages the conversion of other objects to and from their display format for certain visual parts, such as a Text part.
For many of the visual parts, you specify the type of data you want displayed for the part in the Data type field in the Settings window for the part. You can customize how you want this data to display.
dragDropSpec (AbtDragDropSpec)
editable (Boolean)
The editable attribute specifies whether the text in the part can be edited.
Note:
For the Container Details parts, this attribute along with the columns attribute determine whether the column cells are editable. However, the various edit events (such as editCellAt: or editSelectedCell) will edit the column, regardless of the values of these attributes.
enabled (Boolean)
The enabled attribute specifies whether or not the part is available for selection. If true, the part's contents are available for selection.
fontName (String)
The fontName attribute is the name of the font to use for the text displayed in the part.
foregroundColor (String)
The foregroundColor attribute is the name of the RGB color for the foreground of the part.
framingSpec (AbtViewAttachmentConstraint)
The framingSpec attribute represents the values specified for the edge specifications of the part. The edge specifications determine the width, height, and position of the part.
helpFile (String)
The helpFile attribute is the name of the help file associated with the part.
helpKeysId (String)
The helpKeysId attribute is the ID of the keys help associated with the part. The ID can be a string or an integer value.
The ID must exist in the help file associated with the part.
helpTitle (String)
The helpTitle attribute is the title of the help window associated with the part.
helpTopicId (String)
The helpTopicId attribute is the ID of the help topic associated with the part. The ID can be a string or an integer value.
The ID must exist in the help file associated with the part.
mappedWhenManaged (Boolean)
The mappedWhenManaged attribute specifies whether the part should be shown. If the part is currently shown, setting this attribute to false will hide the part. If the part is currently hidden, setting this attribute to true will show the part, if the parent part is shown.
maxLength (Integer)
The maxLength attribute specifies how long a string of data can be in the field.
menu (AbtCwMenuView)
The menu attribute is the menu part to use as the part's menu bar or pop-up menu.
notifyChangeOnEachKeystroke (Boolean)
The notifyChangeOnEachKeystroke attribute specifies whether each keystroke sends a notification that the part has changed.
For example, if you connect the notifyChangeOnEachKeystroke attribute of a Text part to an action you want to occur, such as a validation routing, then the validation would occur after each keystroke within the entry field.
object
The object attribute is the data that the part represents. If the part represents non-string data, use this attribute; otherwise use the labelString or string attribute.
For example, you can use the object attribute with a converter to display the label of a button.
passwordCharacter
The passwordCharacter attribute contains the character that displays for every character that the user types when the part is protected by a password.
passwordProtect (Boolean)
The passwordProtect attribute specifies that the part has a password associated with it. The password character is displayed as the user types in the field.
readOnly (Boolean)
The readOnly attribute specifies that the user cannot modify the existing text.
reformatOnFocusChange (Boolean)
The reformatOnFocusChange attribute specifies whether the part, which has a converter specified, is reformatted when the focus changes.
self (<className>)
showHorizontalScrollBar (Boolean)
The showHorizontalScrollBar attribute specifies whether or not to display a horizontal scroll bar so the user can scroll horizontally through the text. If true, a horizontal scroll bar is displayed.
showVerticalScrollBar (Boolean)
The showVerticalScrollBar attribute adds a vertical scroll bar so that the user can scroll vertically through the text.
string (String)
The string attribute is the string representation of the data for the part.
tabGroup (Boolean)
The tabGroup attribute specifies whether or not the part is included as a tab stop so users can use the Tab and Backtab keys to access the part.
tabSpacing (Integer)
The tabSpacing attribute specifies the number of spaces you want to use when the user presses the Tab key.
textLimit (Integer)
The textLimit attribute specifies the maximum length of the text string that can be entered from the keyboard.
The limit for all text parts that are children of another part (for example, a Form, Window, or Group Box part) is 32 KB. For a Multi-Line Edit part this attribute represents the total length of all lines containing text and line feed characters.
traversalOn (Boolean)
The traversalOn attribute specifies whether users can access the part using the cursor movement keys. If the part is specified as a tab stop by using the tabGroup attribute, users also can use the Tab and Backtab keys to access the part.
wordWrap (String)
The wordWrap attribute breaks lines of text so that text does not extend beyond the right edge of the window. If you have horizontal scroll bars displayed, then this attribute has no effect. Valid values include:
•OFF
•VIRTUAL
•PHYSICAL
If no value is specified, the default value is OFF.
This attribute is equivalent to the WRAP attribute of the HTML <TEXTAREA> tag available with Netscape 2.0 extensions.
